Italy court accepts Altroconsumo Class Action Against Volkswagen

The Italian consumer organisation Altroconsumo’s fight against Dieselgate doesn’t stop.

The Italian court in Venice will hear the class action suit filed by Altroconsumo for all Volkswagen brands including Audi, Skoda and Seat.

Only in Europe, 8.5 million motorists have been affected by the Volkswagen scandal: they have bought a car that emits more NOx - poisonous, highly reactive gases – than what specified in the certificate of conformity and the sales contract.

By now, Altroconsumo has gathered about 30,000 preliminary plaintiffs in the Italian class action and invites consumers to join the collective redress action on altroconsumo.it  #demandjustice

On 29 May, ministers will discuss new car approval rules to improve control of emissions tests. According to The European Consumer Organisation (BEUC), the ongoing emissions scandal has highlighted numerous weaknesses in the European type approval and market surveillance regime. Therefore, BEUC calls for the European Council to give a clear signal that restoring consumer confidence is its primary aim
